Graduating Seniors Perform in Recitals

Categories: Graduating Seniors & Former Students Tags: , , ,

Congratulations to WMS students Briony Booker (graduating from Arts & Communication Magnet School) and Mahsheed Massarat (graduating from Southridge HS).

Briony’s senior flute recital was held at the Westside Music School April 20, and included pieces by Schubert, Beethoven, Schumann, and a very special piece entitled “The Curragh of Kildare” which Briony dedicated to her late grandmother.

Mahsheed, piano student at Westside Music School and voice student of Barbara Irvin, presented a joint Senior Voice Recital with fellow Southridge senior Bonnie Dowsett, on May 17 at the First Baptist Church in Beaverton. Mahsheed’s recital included pieces by Mozart, Brahms, Faure, as well as Elton John & Tim Rice, and Stephen Schwartz. Mahsheed and Bonnie also performed the Rossini “Duetto buffo di due gatti” (Cat Duet).

Best wishes to Briony and Mahsheed as they continue in their studies.

From the Chorus

"So many people have asked me what the secret is to having Julianna continue to enjoy playing the piano. Honestly, I can’t take the credit as her Mom, and I can’t say that she was born with a skill or passion for playing. The secret is the sense of community that she shares once a week with her teacher and her piano peers at Westside Music School."
